About the Center
The Saginaw Court Legal Self-Help Center is a free public resource for community members seeking legal information or assistance with representing themselves in court (self-represented litigants). The Center offers guidance, tools, and access to resources to help you better understand court procedures and prepare necessary documents.
Please note: We do not provide legal advice or legal representation.
Services Available
- Information on court processes: civil, family, landlord/tenant, small claims, personal protection order (PPO) cases, and traffic/criminal
- Assistance completing court forms and legal documents
- Public computer kiosks, scanners, and printers for document preparation
- Access to legal research materials and online resources
- Referrals to legal aid organizations and community services
What to Expect
When visiting the Self-Help Center:
- A Legal Navigator will help you locate legal forms, understand court procedures, access resources and tools to assist with court proceedings.
- You will have access to public kiosks for document preparation.
The Legal Navigator cannot provide legal advice or represent you in court.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an attorney to use the Self-Help Center?
No. The Center is designed to assist individuals who are representing themselves in court.
Will the Navigator give me legal advice?
No. The Navigator can provide legal information, but cannot give legal advice or represent you in court.
Is there a fee to use the Center?
No. Services at the Self-Help Center are provided free of charge including copies needed in your court proceedings.
Can I use the Michigan Legal Self-Help tool at home and come into the Center to print my documents?
Yes. You will need to create an account with Michigan Legal Self-Help, complete the application process and SAVE your work. Come into the Center and sign into your account using your username and password to print your completed documents.
Can I use MiFile to electronically file my Saginaw Court Case documents?
No. We currently do not offer electronic filing. You will need to bring all your documents to the Saginaw Court House to file in person.
